In short, no. Dr. Thakkar takes his time to first inspect the canal completely before deciding on a method (or methods) to safely remove the earwax. This could include lighted curette, irrigation, or a combination of the two. While wax removal can feel intense, great care is taken to avoid pain.
No worries! Ear impressions alone are $110 for the pair. If earwax removal is necessary prior to obtaining the impressions, that would be done at a discounted rate of $30.
An Audiogram, or hearing test, involves otoscopy (visualization of canal and ear drum), tympanometry (pressure test), basic speech testing, and hearing thresholds through air and bone conduction. All these are compiled into a report that you can take home that day, and costs $60. We recommend getting an updated hearing test every 18-24 months.
